Rosemary Austin Alwoc Ogwal, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party candidate in the Dokolo woman MP by-election has pledged to focus on promoting tourism in the district during her two-year term in parliament.
The district boasts two significant tourist sites: one in Kangai town council, where Kabaka Mwanga of Buganda Kingdom and Omukama Kabalega of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom were captured in 1899 for opposing British rule, and another site called “Komora” in Adeknino sub-county, where the two kings are believed to have settled before their capture.
Imat Cecilia Ogwal, the former area woman MP and member of the parliamentary sectoral committee on Tourism, Trade, and Industries, had repeatedly advocated for the gazetting of these sites and requested the return of Lango cultural artifacts from a museum in Europe.
Her daughter, Rosemary Austin Alwoc Ogwal has assured voters in Dokolo that she would carry on her mother's agenda. Campaigning in the Bata sub-county and Agwata Town Council, Alwoc emphasized her commitment to developing tourist sites and ensuring access to education for all in the district.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the FDC Party president urged the people of Dokolo to elect Alwoc because she is as brave and intelligent as her late mother.
