Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament
Florence Nambozo has reconciled with her political nemesis Asha Nabulo Mafabi.
The reconciliation took place at the belated
NRA/NRM victory day celebrations for Sironko District at Sironko High
playground.
The two fell out after the 2021 general
elections when Florence Nambozo who contested as an independent beat the NRM
flag bearer Asha Nabulo Mafabi for the Sironko District Woman Parliamentary
slot. Nambozo garnered 31,119 votes against Nabulo’s 29,744 votes. Legal
battles ensued with Nambozo coming out on top. The two have now agreed to put
their past behind and work towards strengthening the NRM party in Sironko.
Speaking at the reconciliatory meeting, NRM
National Vice Chairperson Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo said the party will carry out
country wide reconciliatory meetings so as to galvanize the party in preparation
for the 2026 general elections.
Francis Maniaku a member of the Forum for
Democratic Change Executive in Sironko District says the reconciliatory meeting
is a waste of time. Maniaku says that focus should be on improved service
delivery as opposed to politicking.
