Residents of Bumasikye Sub County in Mbale district want government to take over Professor Wamukota memorial hospital.

Professor Wamukota memorial hospital is located in Lwaboba Upper Village, Lwabooba parish Bumasikye Sub County. It was founded in the 1980s by the late Professor Wamukota the first doctor in Bugisu region.

James Wamukota a cousin brother to the late Professor Wamukota says that before his demise in 2005, he had established a private hospital to serve people from the sub counties of Bumasikye and Busiu in Mbale District and neighbouring Tororo District. Wamukota says that health unit grapples with challenges of limited health workers and drugs. He also says that the structure housing the medical facility needs a facelift.

Sam Welikhe a grandson to the late Professor Wamukota says that following his death, the health unit continues struggling with funding problems. Welikhe wants government to take over and give the health unit a facelift and recruit more health workers to improve health service delivery
