A section of leaders in Budadiri East County in Sironko
District have thrown their weight behind Eng. Julius Nakiyi for the position of
Member of Parliament for Budadiri East.
This endorsement was
done over the weekend in Elgon Sub County where Nakiyi launched his
parliamentary bid. One of the leaders backing Nakiyi is John Dadiri Gidudu, the
LCIII Chairperson for Busulani Sub County. Dadiri, also a member of the Forum
for Democratic Change (FDC) said it was time to elect true leaders saying he is
backing Nakiyi for his humility and commitment to serving the people of
Budadiri East.
Paul Nakiyi, the District
Councilor representing Buhugu Sub County said Nakiyi was genuinely interested
in improving the lives of the people.
In his address, Nakiyi
said his campaign will be based on economic and youth empowerment, infrastructure
and service delivery, agriculture and food security, unity, leadership and good
governance.
But Budadiri East
legislator Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira has dismissed the endorsement saying the
leaders behind the endorsement are opportunists who support his opponents as a
result of past disagreements over accountability issues.
