The police in Arua city are holding a man accused of conning parents millions of Shillings, with promises of giving their children scholarships and bursaries.

The 27-year-old Sabiri Siraji was picked up on Wednesday morning from Arua Hotel in Arua city where he has been residing since last week on the orders of Arua Resident City Commissioner-RCC, Dr. Alice Akello.

According to Akello, she acted on intelligence reports indicating that the suspect was keeping over 40 children at Continental hotel in Arua City Central Division for transportation to Al-Rahman Islamic Primary and secondary school along Kampala- Bombo-Luwero road.

She notes that their intelligence shows that the purported school that the suspect claimed to be taking the children to study does not exist.

Akello has cautioned parents against surrendering their children to strangers under the guise of getting scholarships and bursaries.
