Bukalasi Secondary School students this morning went on strike protesting the sacking of their head teacher.
Bukalasi secondary school in Bukalasi Sub County, Bududa District is government aided. George Owany the Bududa Resident District Commissioner identifies the head teacher as Milton Nandala. According to Owany, the head teacher was sacked by the school board last week on allegations of engaging in relationships with female students.
Owany says an audio circulated on social media and in the audio, a man suspected to be the head teacher was reportedly asking for sex from a senior three girl and in return would ensure that the student is promoted to senior four next year. He says that they have also been receiving complaints about the conduct of the head teacher and the board had to act.
But some students who protested the sacking said Nandala’s transfer from Bulambuli to Bududa had positively impacted on the school.
Milton Kamoti Wasunguyi the Bududa LCV Chairperson says they are investigating the matter and will take a decision soon.
