Former Industrial Division LCIII Chairperson Hajji Massa Musa says ministers implicated in the Karamoja iron sheets saga should have resigned by now.

Several ministers including that of Karamoja Dr. Mary Gorret Kitutu are being investigated for diverting iron sheets meant for delivery to the Karamojong community. Ministers Rebecca Kadaga, Matia Kassaija, and Amos Lugoloobi and Agnes Nandutu, admitted to receiving the iron sheets.

According to Massa Musa, such high profile government officials being implicated in diversion of items meant to help the poor is unfortunate. Massa Musa says that had it been elsewhere, the affected officials would have already resigned.

Massa Musa’s call follows opposition Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) push for the resignation of all government officials named in the alleged mismanagement of relief items meant to benefit vulnerable communities in Karamoja.

Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among directed the presidential affairs committee of parliament to commence investigations into the alleged mismanagement of the relief aid including iron sheets, goats, and maize flour meant for Karamoja sub-region following reports that some of the iron sheets were found at the house of Karamoja affairs minister, Gorrete Kitutu’s mother.
