A section of residents in
Sironko District have given mixed reactions to the reconciliation between NRMs
Florence Nambozo and Asha Nabulo Mafabi.
At the belated NRA/NRM
victory day celebrations for Sironko this week, Sironko District Woman Member
of Parliament Florence Nambozo and Asha Nabulo Mafabi decided to put aside
their political differences and work towards strengthening the NRM party.
The two fell out after
the NRM primaries where Asha Nabulo Mafabi beat MP Nambozo. Nambozo opted to
run as an independent in the general elections defeating Nabulo. Even when
Nabulo pursued legal means, Nambozo came out on top.
Now James Mafabi a
resident of Bugitimwa Sub County has welcomed the reconciliation saying the two
leaders will now concentrate on serving the community as opposed to politically
fighting for supremacy.
Denis
Wesina from Masaba Sub County says the fight between the two camps had weakened
NRM.
But
Paul Madanda from Budadiri town council does not believe that the
reconciliation is real. Madanda says the reconciliatory meeting might have been
a political stunt.
