The camp was set up by the Office of the Prime Minister for hundreds of households from the disaster-prone districts of Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko, Bulambuli, and Namisindwa. The residents say that for about two months the camp has been facing water shortage scarcity and that the available source of water is unsafe for drinking and watering their crops.

Annet Nandudu the LCV Chairperson of Bulambuli district says that people who were resettled from Buluganya and other disaster-prone sub-counties at different internally displaced camps and those who were already resettled in the area from different disaster risk districts at Bugisu region are currently facing challenges of accessing clean water for drinking and other domestic uses. She says that some people in the area travel long distances of over 3 Kilometers to access water from nearby streams which are dirty.

Samuel Wadada one of the area leaders at Bunambutye resettlement area says the government promised to extend piped clean water in the camp.  He says that they used to collect water from nearby ponds which have all dried. Wadada says that people in the camps and those who were resettled are at risk of contracting cholera and other water-related diseases since the water they are consuming is dirty.
