The deceased persons have only been identified
as Elias and Emmanuel both in their 30s, residents of Kibaale village in
Butoole parish Kyangwali Sub County.
It is alleged that the duo on Wednesday evening
prepared and cooked yam that is suspected to have been laced with poison. After eating the yam, they immediately developed
stomach upset. They also started vomiting.
Fredrick Muluri, a resident says that they
immediately rushed the victims to Kituti health center IV for treatment but
unfortunately they were pronounced dead a few hours after being admitted.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed
the incident saying investigations have commenced adding that the bodies of the
deceased persons have been handed over to the relatives after postmortem had
been carried out.
