Kwania police are holding a woman for masquerading as a
captain from the Uganda People's Defense Forces-UPDF from Gadafi barracks.
The suspect, Tracy Byaruhanga, was picked up
from Freedom Bar in Aduku Town council yesterday after being lured by the
Kwania District Police Commander for attempting to con Shillings one million
from Rtd Captain Alex Omara and others.
Reports indicate that Byaruhanga had earlier
called Omara who was dragged to Kwania Central Police Station (CPS) for assault
demanding the money to “handle” the matter and “stop it from getting to
court.”
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional
Police Spokesperson explained that the DPC lured the suspect to the bar under
the guise of giving her the money.
Okema further explained that upon searching the
suspect, they didn't find any identification on her but rather found weird
things such as tree roots, and feathers. According to Okema, the
investigation has commenced and upon conclusion, the suspect will appear
in court for impersonation contrary to Sec 381 of the Penal Code Act.
