Sironko District Local Government Council today opted not to approve two people whose names were proposed to the District Public Accounts Committee(PAC).
The two, James Makabayi and Charles Wandulu were proposed by Sironko District Vice Chairperson, Lydia Gimono. The two members have been serving a four-year term and and following its expirty, they were seeking another one.
Wetaka Acidic the councilor representing elders said that PAC had not submitted any report for the last four years and there was no need to approve them.
Dison Balayo the councilor representing Sironko town council said that since PAC submitted the performance reports today, there was no need to block their approval.
The Speaker, Samuel Mafabi put the matter to a vote and those opposed to the approval got 27 votes as opposed to those in support with 17 votes. Mafabi halted the approval saying he will study the PAC report and the two names will be approved in the next council.
