Four people are being held on allegations of being behind the poisoning of two police officers in Mbale.



Rogers Taitika the Elgon Region Police spokesman identifies the suspects as Mwalye Abeneri, Masette Edwin, Outa Anthony and Mutonyi Sharon.


Taitika says that the police officers; Ameny John Bosco aged 48 and Komaketch Patrick Mark aged 40 years had supper at God’s Care restaurant in Central cell, Alfa ward, Busiu town council in Mbale District. Taitika says it is at this restaurant that the food the police officers ate was allegedly laced with poison.


The two police officers developed stomachache and fever and were admitted at Busiu Health Centre IV. Ameny John Bosco died while Komaketch Patrick Mark is admitted at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition but currently improving. Ameny’s body has been taken to Mulago National Referral for post-mortem. The suspects are now being held at Central Police Station.
