The chairpersons were
trained by Redeem International, an organization that pushes for the rights of
widows and orphans. The training took place at Magale town council hall in
Namsindwa District.
Namuyindi Zainab the
Community Liaison Officer for Elgon Region told the LCs to train their
residents about on how to write wills.
Namuyindi said that many
people die without making wills which brings confusion amongst family members
on issues of property sharing. She asked local council leaders to fight for the
rights of widows.
Manana Viniket, the communications officer for Redeem International said they will continue organizing sensitization meetings on the rights of widows and orphans.
