Inzu Ya Masaba, the Bamasaba cultural institution has distanced itself from a letter authored by state minister for gender, labor and social development Peace Mutuzo calling for harmonization so as to come up with one cultural leader, the Umukuka

The letter addressed to former Bamasaba Cultural leader Wilson Wamimbi Weasa asks him to bring together the 26 clan chairpersons with a view of coming up with one cultural leader on Wednesday.

The Bamasaba have been embroiled in a power struggle with two camps claiming leadership of the cultural throne. One is led by John Amlam Wagabyalire and another by Jude Mike Mudoma.

Addressing the media on Saturday, the Inzu Ya Masaba Secretary General Francis Wodero said that they will not be part of the mediation meeting on Wednesday. Wodero accuses the mediator Wilson Wamimbi of having a conflict of interest in the impasse. According to Wodero, the former Umukuka Wilson Wamimbi was part of the inauguration team of Jude Mike Mudoma and therefore not fit to preside over such a matter.

Wodero also says that the letter is addressed to the Bugisu Cultural Institution and not Inzu Ya Masaba. As such Wodero says that John Amlam Wagabyalire was rightfully elected and his coronation took place. He says they now want government to gazette him.
