Dr. Sheikh Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga is the new
acting Director of Sharia at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC.
He
was appointed by the UMSC national management committee today under the
Stewardship of His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda.
Also
appointed is Nasser Musa Odongkara as the Secretary for Awqaf (endowment). The
two officials, who took their oath of allegiance and secrecy, are pending
confirmation by the relevant council organs to become substantive in their
respective offices.
Sheikh
Lubanga has been the director of Zakatil, a department that he has greatly
transformed.
In
his congratulatory remarks, Sheikh Mubaje urged the newly appointed officials
to come up with applicable modern systems that will promote and improve service
delivery in their respective departments.
