Karamoja
State Minister Florence Nambozo was on Thursday nominated as the sole candidate
for the position of Chairperson Women’s League for Bukomba cell in Mutufu Town
Council in Sironko District under the ruling National Resistance Movement(NRM).
Nambozo was nominated after she launched a village to
village mobilization and sensitization campaign as the NRM party begins
nominations for LCI and other village level structures.
The campaign was flagged off in Bukomba cell, where
Nambozo, also the Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament convened a
village meeting for the nomination of candidates. She called for unity, peaceful
and responsible campaigns and urged residents to select the right leaders.
Nambozo who is vying for the position of NRM
Chairperson for Sironko District expressed her commitment to unite party
members and galvanize support once elected. Nambozo will tussle out Hajji
Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo, the incumbent.
Residents like John Wandui said that many people were
not aware of the exercise saying that many people got to know of the process on
Thursday morning.
Mafabi Manuel, the NRM parish registrar for Tandiga
Ward said they had received no training about the exercise. Minister Nambozo
promised to follow up the matter to ensure better coordination.
