State Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations Esther Anyakun has asked authorities at Sino Mbale Industrial Park to prioritize the rights of their workers.

Anyakun’s call was in response to a petition by workers at Mbale Industrial park who cite poor working conditions like low pay, delayed salary payment and lack of protective gear at the facility.

Anyakun who was on a fact finding mission with two other Ministers Eveyn Anite (Investment& Privatization) and David Bahati(Industry) urged the authorities at Mbale Industrial Park to respect the rights of their workers for better productivity.

But Zhang Laurent the Administrative Manager for Sino Mbale Industrial Park dismissed the allegations saying all workers are paid well and on time. Zhang also said that protective gear is provided for all workers.

Sino Mbale industrial Park has more than 50 factories with over 6,000 workers, both skilled, unskilled and semi-skilled.
