The state house health monitoring unit has unearthed 18 ghost health facilities and 75 health workers in Manafwa District.
The rot was unearthed after the unit camped in Manafwa for one month. Dr. Julian Nabatanzi the deputy head of the state house health monitoring unit. According to Dr. Nabtanzi, they took keen interest in Manfwa following the death of a mother at the labor ward at Bugobero Health Centre IV.
The death was as a result of alleged negligence by health workers who are also reported to have asked for two hundred thousand shillings before attending to the patient.
Nabatanzi says they have discovered that the ghost health workers have been receiving public funds in form of salary. She also says they have discovered that some health workers at Bugobero Health IV are ill mannered which has led to increased maternal and child mortality.
She also noted the theft of government drugs and forgery of receipts Julian noted that there's theft and sell of government drugs by health staffs at Bugobero health center iv and forgery of receipts.
