A teenage girl in Sironko girl is accusing an
unidentified health worker at Buwasa Health Center IV of defiling her
while seeking treatment at the facility.
It is
alleged that the 13-year-old pupil of Nakirungu Primary School in Busamaga
Sub County had gone to receive treatment for headache when she was abused by
the health worker.
Her
grandmother, Betty Nambozo, a resident of Buwamaniala Village, Buwamaniala
parish Busamaga Sub County, says that the victim escorted her aunt
to Buwasa health centre IV on Saturday for malaria treatment. She
explained that the minor had also presented with symptoms of flu and she
advised her to get treatment at the health center.
Namboozo,
however, says that the minor later complained that while at the facility, an
unidentified health worker took her to a private room, where she was
defiled. She explained that the health worker later threatened to kill her if
she revealed what had transpired in the private room to anybody.
Minati Namuwenge,
who escorted the teenager to the health center, says that they reported
the matter to Bugusege police station. A medication examination conducted
proved that the minor was defiled.
Denis
Ephraim Balwaniregha, the Sironko Resident District Commissioner, says that as
security they are planning to parade all male health workers at the health
center to allow the victim to identify the culprit.
