The Bugisu region secondary school post-primary games have kicked off on Friday at Butiru Comprehensive Secondary School in Manafwa district with seven schools opting out.
Isaiah Sasaga, the chairperson of Uganda Senior Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) Bugisu region says that despite 38 schools qualifying for the games, seven schools failed to turn up.
The seven schools include; Nyondo SS, Mulatsi S.S, Musese SS, Bugobero SS, Magale Royal Integrated High School, Divine College and defending champions Sironko Progressive.
According to Wanzira, they intend to write to the Ministry of Education and Sports to take action on the schools for stifling the talents of the students.
But Sironko Progressive's deputy head teacher, Paulo Murana, says the decision not to participate arose out of the injuries sustained by seven players during training. Murana says this prompted them to cancel plans of participating in the games.
