
Ugandan athletes who
have been training in Eldoret, Iten and Kapatagat in Kenya have returned home
after the death of Ugandan Female athlete Rebecca Cheptegei.
Among
the athletes who arrived on Wednesday, at their respective training venues in
Kapchorwa and Bukwo are, female long-distance runners, Joy Cheptoyek, Sarah
Chelangat and Stella Chesang.
At
the burial of Rebecca, Olympic champion and two-time world record holder,
Joshua Cheptegei, asked Ugandan athletes training in Kenya to return home for
their safety. According to Cheptoyek, there are over 30 Ugandan athletes who
were training in Kenya, but the majority of them will return to Uganda and
train in different camps within the Sebei region.

Benjamin, the National Coach and also the Vice President of Technical at the
Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), commended the decision of the athletes. He
said that the federation will give them the required support during training
sessions.
